We are seeking a Revit-trained Architect, Intern Architect, or Technologist with 5+ years of relevant mid- and high-rise residential experience to help support new and ongoing project development. We are looking for an energetic professional to foster an environment that will continue to build a happy, efficient, and successful team.

You are enthusiastic about good design, with an understanding of the need for organization, collaboration and construction. You are professional through and through and have a practiced proficiency when it comes to shepherding a design to built reality. You are technically savvy with regards to construction practices, code-compliance, detailing, and coordinating with consultants. You anticipate the needs of clients and contractors, while collaborating with your team to keep the project on time and on budget. You think three steps ahead and seek solutions before a problem emerges.

responsibilities

  • Must be able to document and coordinate a complex building design from initial planning and Schematic Design through Construction Administration
  • Works with consultants to gather facts, defines design and construction parameters, conceptualize viable solutions and secure approvals of proposals and solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure that the appropriate hand-offs take place, to ensure that the design intent is followed through to the completion of construction.
  • Reviews product literature, analyzes materials and determines appropriateness for application to projects and details.
  • Develops Construction Documents, including Building Permit, Site-Planning Approval, Issued for Tender, shop drawing, Issued for Construction, Specifications, and Site Instructions during CA.
  • Is comfortable dealing with multiple stakeholders (municipal authorities, planners, engineers, and contractors, etc.)
  • Performs full coordination of consultants, contractors, and trades (when necessary)
  • Is proficient in communicating design ideas through drawing and working primarily in Revit.
  • Reviews architectural or engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with codes, local bylaws, and regulations.
  • Maintains and upholds firm documentation standards.
  • Communicate project team responsibilities in line with project expectations.
  • Continually research literature and maintain leadership and knowledge of current building materials, structural systems, mechanical/electrical systems, sustainability initiatives, etc.

Portfolio must demonstrate:

  • Excellence in producing Construction Documents (BP, Tender, Construction sets, etc.)
  • Exposure to diverse types of construction (wood, steel, concrete, hybrid)
  • Local Experience in the Greater Toronto Area and/or Ontario.
  • Demonstrated Revit expertise (a Revit evaluation will be required after first interview)
